I understood how time-crunched teachers and exam officers were, and I never took it personally when schools turned me down for my teenagers' exams. So when the three schools said yes, I was really grateful for the generosity of their time and effort given to my students.
The few schools that can accommodate private candidates, that make extra efforts beyond their own demanding timetables, that make the private candidates feel comfortable, need ... a huge thank you from all of us who use their services.
At the moment, I am working on the UK database of schools that accept private candidates...it is taking long hours, and most of the schools are not able to help out. Every now and then, I get an exam officer who says yes - and it makes my whole day.
This week, I was reminded about the generosity of busy people who take the time to help motivated private candidates reach their end goal. Thanks to all exam officers and staff in the schools and centres that accept private candidates.
